Virtual meet on Business Opportunitiesin Pharma and Medical Devices Sector with Venezuela

A virtual B2B/B2G of Indian companies with Venezuelan Private / Government entities was organized by the Embassy of India, Caracas and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) with participation of Government of Venezuela on 10 November 2020 to showcase the Indian export potential in terms of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

 

The event started with opening remarks of Mr. Manish Singhal, Deputy Secretary General, FICCI, followed by welcome remarks by Mr. Arvind Varchaswi, Chair-FICCI LAC Regional Council and MD, Sri Sri Tattva. Ambassador of India to Venezuela, H.E. Shri Abhishek Singh and Ambassador of Venezuela to India, H.E. Ms. Coromoto Godoy Calderón, provided an insight on the growth potential of the business environment between India and Venezuela. President of the Pharmaceutical Engine of Venezuela, Mr. Ramón Ernesto Perdomo spoke about the methodology in which pharmaceutical exports from India to Venezuela may increase. Vice Minister for Health Resources, Technology and Regulation, H.E. Mr. Gerardo BriceñoAlviárez, informed in his special address about the interest of the Venezuelan Government in enhancing import of medicines and medical supplies from India and also to introduce the Indian traditional system of medicine, Ayurveda, in Venezuela.

 

A total of 17 representatives of Indian pharmaceutical companies and 05 from Venezuela participated in the B2B/B2G meetings and discussed a variety of possibilities to establish trade relations in the pharmaceutical sector.The eventwas very successful and opened new avenues for the interaction of India and Venezuela pharmaceutical traders.
