‘Mahatma Gandhi – Venezuela’ Foundation launched in Caracas

The Foundation 'Mahatma Gandhi Venezuela' was launched in Caracas. The inauguration ceremony, which was held in the Embassy Residence 'Quinta Bharat' was attended by the President of the Foundation, Mrs. Veronica Guruceaga, members of the Foundation, Vice Foreign Minister Mr. Xoan Noya, community leaders, members of the diplomatic community, faculty from Metropolitan University and Central University, members of 'Missionaries of Charity - Venezuela' and others. Ambassador Rahul Shrivastava gave the welcome address. Shri Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, who has been instrumental in the setting up of the Foundation spoke through a video message. Eminent journalist and former diplomat, Amb Julia Cesar Pineda coordinated the programme. The Foundation has tied up with the Metropolitan University and the Central University of Venezuela for diploma courses in non-violence and other principles and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
