Since the route to St. Maarten lies through Curacao, another island of concurrent accreditation, the opportunity was taken to meet with the representatives of the Indian community, the Foreign Office and discuss the way forward to have a more dynamic engagement with the highly developed and strategically located island of Curacao. Curacao is a dynamic island with a population of 150,000 and an area of 444 sq. mt. It has a high income economy and a free trade zone. It is very developed with excellent infrastructure and has a dry dock for sophisticated ship repairs and a strong financial service sector and state of the art diverse tourism infrastructure. It also has a sophisticated high-tech data exchange centre and a space port.

 

It has no natural resources except an excellent harbor which has facilitated its position as a depot for international trade. Curacao has attained a high level of development and is another jewel in the Caribbean. Our entrepreneurs should take note of it.
